A track record of helping people work together for better community outcomes
|
|
The Community Strategic Plan has been strongly endorsed and over the next twenty years it will guide the development of the Hawkesbury in ways that are consistent with the unique character of our region. John Allen demonstrated a great ability to work with Councillors, staff, management and the community to help bring it all together.

General Manager
Hawkesbury City Council |
We recently worked with Hawkesbury City Council in the development of their Community Strategic Plan. Like most of our assignments it was a team effort with the council staff. The total project took about 18 months and involved planning, interviews, multiple Councillor and Staff workshops and two phases of community consultation. The final result was a strongly endorsed plan to guide the Hawkesbury over the next twenty years.
Other public sector engagements have included:
- assisting a variety of different councils with their Management Plans. Councils have ranged from small to large with different political complexions and issues to confront … working with the management to develop the approaches to suit in each case.
- working with Regional Organisation of Councils on planning, benchmarking and very recently, governance
- working with councils on a wide range of topics including family day care, provision of equestrian and other sporting facilities, economic development, council structure and constitution (including a consultation that was ultimately reflected in a change to Local Government legislation), tree preservation orders, community consultations to resolve contentious issues including the potential to subdivide a suburb on the outskirts of Sydney and a successful mediation of a dispute on an island in the Hawkesbury in regard to traffic and lifestyle issues.
- work with the NSW and VIC state governments across a range of environmental and economic development issues.
- economic development and consultation assignments for the Federal government
